Why did UK border officials destroy a shipment of HOIIME cordless pressure washers?

UK border officials intercepted a consignment of HOIIME cordless pressure washers and destroyed every unit. The Office for Product Safety and Standards published the report on 17 August 2026 after finding no evidence the product had ever been assessed for the UK market.

The tool that never reached a shelf

A cordless pressure washer is a battery powered cleaner you carry to the driveway or the garden. It blasts dirt from patios and vehicles without a hose or a mains cable. The HOIIME model arrived from China in boxes marked with SKU cool-PKC0980-UK-zk. Each box included a carry case. Amazon listed the product under identifiers FBA15LHHGZGBU000014 and X002HOP491.

What the paperwork was missing

UK law requires every machine placed on the market to carry a Declaration of Conformity. That document proves the manufacturer has applied the relevant safety standards and kept a technical file. The HOIIME shipment had none of it. No technical documentation existed. No records of production control survived. No labels, no markings, no user instructions in English accompanied the goods. The Office for Product Safety and Standards states that without such evidence the product can overheat and catch fire.

The regulatory baseline

The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 set the baseline for any powered equipment sold in Great Britain. They demand risk assessment. They demand protective measures. They demand traceability. The HOIIME washer meets none of those requirements. Local Authority Trading Standards notified the case under reference 2606-0115. The risk level was classified as high.

Three actions recorded at once

The measure type recorded three actions. Destruction of the product. Import rejected at border. Removal of the listing by the online marketplace. All three took effect on 17 August 2026. The goods never officially entered the UK supply chain.

What Amazon did

Amazon removed the listing after the border rejection. The report does not say how many units had already been sold to UK buyers before the takedown. It does not say whether any of those buyers have been contacted.

What this means for anyone who already owns one

If you bought a HOIIME cordless pressure washer with the SKU cool-PKC0980-UK-zk you are holding a machine that has never been proven safe for the UK market. The government report warns the product can overheat and catch fire. There is no recall notice with a repair or refund procedure because the goods were destroyed before they officially entered the supply chain.
