Why were Todimart T1 and T3 electric scooters pulled from Amazon?

The UK Office for Product Safety and Standards published a safety report on 20 October 2026 covering two models of children's electric scooters sold through Amazon. The listing has been removed and owners are told to stop using the scooters immediately.

The plug that fails the British standard

The hazard centres on the supplied mains plug. It does not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363. The standard governs the shape and spacing of pins on every plug sold for use in UK sockets. This plug also lacks a fuse link. A fuse link is the small cartridge inside the plug that breaks the circuit when current exceeds a safe level. Without it the plug can overheat and in extreme cases explode. The charger carries the marking UBILL Power Charger YLT-42-2000. The scooters themselves are branded Todimart and identified as models T1 and T3.

Regulations cited in the report

The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 cover the scooter as a powered machine. The Plugs and Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994 cover the plug. A valid Declaration of Conformity was not supplied. That document would confirm the product passed the required assessments. In its absence the product cannot be presumed safe. The report states the product does not meet the requirements of either regulation.
