Why are nearly four thousand dual-fuel ranges being recalled for a missing gas-port cap?
A dual-fuel range combines gas burners on top with electric ovens below. About 3,992 of them in the United States are being recalled because a small cap on a gas test port may be missing. The recall also covers about 336 units sold in Canada.

The missing cap and what it does
A gas test port sits on the manifold that feeds the surface burners. During factory pressure checks a technician removes a cap, reads the gauge, and then screws the cap back on. If that cap leaves the factory loose or absent, gas escapes whenever the supply valve is open. The leak is invisible and odorant can dissipate near the floor, so a spark from a switch or a pilot light can ignite a cloud that has already filled the kitchen. The recall notice describes the hazard as a risk of serious injury or death from fire or explosion. No incidents have been reported.
Six model numbers and how to find yours
AGA Elise ranges carry AEL361DF and AEL481DF. AGA Mercury ranges carry AMC36DF and AMC48DF. La Cornue CornuFé 90 ranges carry LAC9. La Cornue CornuFé 110 ranges carry LAC1. All were manufactured from March 19, 2025 through July 24, 2026. Widths are 36 and 48 inches for the AGA lines, 36 and 43 inches for the La Cornue lines. Every color and trim option is included. Both natural and LP gas types are included. The rating plate that holds the serial number is on the bottom panel under the storage drawer. Pull the drawer out, look up, and you will see the plate. The notice does not state how many of the 3,992 units remain in service, nor does it specify whether the missing caps resulted from a single production shift or a broader assembly issue.
What to do right now
Shut off the gas supply valve behind the range immediately. That step stops fuel from reaching the missing cap. The electric ovens remain safe to use; the notice explicitly allows continued use of the oven sections. The gas surface burners cannot be used until a certified technician inspects the manifold, installs the correct cap, and pressure-tests the connection.
