Why has the Sammic portable liquidiser been recalled in the UK?
The UK Office for Product Safety and Standards has recalled the Sammic Portable Electric Liquidiser because an accessible aluminium part can become live if the first insulation layer fails. Owners of the affected commercial models should stop using the machine and contact the manufacturer for a remedy.
A commercial blender pulled from the market
The Sammic Portable Electric Liquidiser is a countertop blender built for professional kitchens. On 21 August 2026 the UK regulator published a high‑risk recall notice after the manufacturer reported a design flaw that can expose the user to electric shock.
The notice carries reference number 2608-0199 and was issued by the Health and Safety Executive. The product originates from China and is sold under the Sammic brand. The recall applies to every unit bearing the model codes and serial numbers listed in the official annex.
How the shock risk appears
The machine is designed as a double‑insulated appliance. That means a second layer of insulation must protect the user if the basic insulation around the motor windings breaks down. The manufacturer discovered that in certain identification numbers an external aluminium part the operator can touch may contact the aluminium motor support when the first insulation layer fails.
If an internal insulation fault then occurs between the motor winding and the motor support, the fault current can travel to the accessible aluminium part. The operator who touches that part receives a shock. The product does not meet the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
