Why Was This Cordless Leaf Blower Stopped at the UK Border?

UK border officials intercepted a shipment of HOIIME cordless leaf blowers bound for Amazon customers. The products were destroyed because they lacked any proof of meeting British safety rules.

A cordless leaf blower is a garden tool that uses a battery to push air through a nozzle. You point it at leaves or grass cuttings and they move.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards published a safety report on 17 August 2026. The report covers a HOIIME model sold through Amazon under ASIN B0F5Q6P7P7.

What the paperwork should have shown

British law requires a Declaration of Conformity for machinery. That document proves the manufacturer checked the product against the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008. The importer could not produce one.

Technical documentation was also missing. So was any evidence of production control.

Labels, markings and user instructions were absent too.

Why the risk is rated high

Without those records nobody can confirm the motor, battery or charging circuit will not overheat. The report states the product may overheat and catch fire. No injuries are mentioned in the notice.

What happened to the stock

The consignment was rejected at the border. Customs destroyed the units. Amazon removed the listing after being notified.

The SKU cool-PKC0937-zk and identifiers FBA15LHHGZGBU000004 and RD375088U021 refer to the same batch. X002D3FIC5 is another identifier for that batch. Country of origin is listed as China.

If you already own one

The notice does not say how many reached buyers before the border stop. It also does not describe a recall process for units already delivered. Local Authority Trading Standards filed the original notification (PSD 2606-0101).
