What makes the ULTRALOQ Bolt Mission different from every other smart lock?
ULTRALOQ has released the Bolt Mission, a deadbolt that uses ultra-wideband radio to decide whether you are walking up to the door from outside or merely moving around inside. The lock talks directly to your iPhone through the Xthings Home app running in the background, so no hub or cloud connection is required for the hands-free unlock.
How the lock knows you are outside
Most auto-unlock features rely on GPS or Bluetooth proximity. They ask only whether an authorized phone is nearby. The Bolt Mission adds a radar-based presence sensor and ultra-wideband ranging. The lock measures precise distance and direction of approach. It then decides locally — between the phone and the deadbolt — whether the movement pattern matches someone arriving from the street. If the logic says you are inside, the bolt stays locked.
The same UWB technology that lets an AirTag guide you to lost keys now guides the lock to your pocket.
What Aliro certification means for the other two models
Both new models ship alongside the Mission and carry Aliro certification. Aliro is the open tap-to-unlock standard developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance, the same group that maintains Matter. Apple, Google, and Samsung back it. You tap an iPhone or Android phone to the lock and the credential stored in Apple Wallet or Samsung Wallet opens the door. This is not Apple Home Key. Home Key is Apple's proprietary NFC implementation. Aliro works across platforms; Home Key works only in Apple's ecosystem.
The Bolt Pro fits standard deadbolt prep. The Latch 5 Pro fits lever-style doors — side entries, garage doors, home offices. Both also support fingerprint and PIN. App control and a physical key are also available.
Matter everywhere, but no Home Key on the Pro models
All three locks are Matter-certified. They join Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and any other Matter controller without a bridge. The Mission uses UWB for hands-free entry. The Pro models use Aliro for tap-to-unlock. If Home Key is a hard requirement, the Pro models will not satisfy it.
The source does not say how many older Bolt units remain in use. It also does not report injury data or failure rates for the new UWB logic. Pricing and exact ship dates are not in the announcement. You can order the Mission, Bolt Pro, and Latch 5 Pro from Amazon or directly from ULTRALOQ.
