How does a knuckle failure drop a commercial light fixture from its pole?
Lithonia Lighting has recalled certain RSX luminaires because the adjustable tilt arm can detach and fall. The recall covers about 11,532 units sold for commercial outdoor lighting.

What the RSX luminaire does
The RSX series is a commercial outdoor luminaire. It mounts to square poles, round poles, wall brackets, or wall brackets with surface mount conduit boxes. The adjustable tilt arm lets installers aim the light from zero degrees to ninety degrees above horizontal. Four mounting codes fall under the recall: AASP for square poles, AARP for round poles, AAWB for wall brackets, and AAWSC for wall brackets with conduit boxes. Each code identifies the arm geometry, not the light engine itself.
The knuckle that holds the angle
The arm attaches to the luminaire housing through a knuckle joint. That knuckle carries the full weight of the fixture while allowing the tilt adjustment. When the knuckle fractures, the mechanical link between arm and housing disappears. The luminaire then drops straight down from whatever height the pole or bracket places it. The firm has received 13 reports of adjustable tilt arm mountings breaking. There have been four reports of the fixtures falling. No injuries have been reported.
Two production gaps separated by four years.
Units were manufactured between August 2019 to July 2020 and again between August 2024 to April 2026. The gap spans four full years with no recalled production. Both windows share the same four mounting codes. The recall notice does not explain whether the same tooling, supplier, or design change links the two periods. Commercial distributors nationwide including Turtle & Hughes Inc. and Consolidated Electrical Distributors sold the fixtures from August 2019 to August 2026 for between $400 and $2200.
What the repair replaces
Lithonia Lighting will arrange for a qualified professional to replace the recalled adjustable tilt arm mount with a new complete adjustable arm assembly. The remedy is a full arm swap, not a knuckle-only retrofit. Consumers should keep clear of the area directly beneath the luminaire and contact Lithonia Lighting to schedule the free repair. The company operates a toll-free line at 855-307-2454 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
Where the fixture hangs while you wait.
The recall instructs owners to avoid the fall zone until the replacement is complete. That zone is the area directly beneath each installed luminaire. The notice does not specify how long scheduling takes or whether temporary bracing is approved. The fixtures remain energized and in place unless the owner chooses to de-energize them. Manufactured in United States and Mexico. Recall number 27-041.
