Which Char-Broil electric grills can shock you and what to do about it?
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of Char-Broil Bistro Pro electric grills on September 17, 2026. About 10,605 units sold in the United States and 342 in Canada have a grounding wire that can detach from the heating element.

Which grills are in the recall
The recall covers three model families sold under the Bistro Pro name. They are the Bistro Pro Electric Grill & Griddle + Charcoal, the Bistro Electric Grill + Charcoal, and the Bistro Pro Tabletop Electric Grill. Each came in full-size or tabletop form. Colors include Black (black and gray), Red, Blackout (all black), and Emerald (green). A "CB" logo plate sits on the front of the lid. "CHARBROIL" is printed on the front control panel. The product label listing the model and serial number, including a four-digit manufacturing date code in year and month (YYMM) format, is located on the bottom shelf of full-size grills and on the side bar of tabletop models.
Only grills with specific manufacturing date codes are affected. The codes are 2510 for October 2025, 2511 for November 2025, and 2512 for December 2025. Eight model numbers fall inside the recall. They range from 25302145 through 25302163.
How the grounding wire fails
The hazard lives inside the heating element assembly. A grounding wire connects the element to the grill's chassis. That wire carries fault current away if the element's insulation breaks down. In the recalled units the wire can disconnect. When it does the grill loses its fault protection. The metal housing can become energized. Anyone touching the grill while it is plugged in can receive an electric shock. No injuries have been reported. The CPSC is aware of one report of a missing GFCI. The document does not say whether that report involved a shock or simply a discovered defect.
What the repair kit includes
Char-Broil is offering a free repair kit, not a refund. Owners must stop using the grill immediately. They register at www.charbroil.com/BistroProFix. The kit arrives with repair instructions, a screwdriver, a wrench, screws, and a label to affix after the repair is done. The repair reattaches or replaces the grounding wire. Once the work is finished the owner sends a photo of the completed repair showing the model number. Char-Broil then issues a digital $25 gift card valid at participating retailers.
Where and when they were sold
The grills were sold from October 2025 through June 2026. Retailers included Ace Hardware, Lowe's, Walmart, Wayfair, and QVC. Online they appeared on Amazon.com, Charbroil.com, Ace Hardware.com, Lowes.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com, and QVC.com. Prices ranged from $150 to $250. The importer is Char-Broil LLC of Columbus, Georgia. Manufacturing took place in China. The recall number is 26-773.
What to do next
Unplug the grill. Do not use it. Find the label and confirm the date code. If it reads 2510, 2511, or 2512, register for the kit. The repair requires only the tools supplied. Char-Broil can be reached toll-free at 866-671-7988 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mountain Time Monday through Saturday. Email is recall@charbroil.com.
