What does Apple's new Home Collection with LG and Schneider actually include?

Apple has confirmed a new lineup of smart home accessories built with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The collection covers cameras, a deadbolt lock, thermostats, and sensors — all managed through the Home app with no extra accounts.

A single catalog instead of a compatibility list

Apple calls the lineup Apple Home Collection. It includes nine accessories at launch. Prices start at $39.95 for a temperature sensor and reach $399.95 for a floodlight camera. Every device connects through Thread. The lock adds Matter and Aliro so core entry functions work locally even when the internet disappears. Setup is a single tap on an iPhone. After that the Home app manages everything. No separate apps. No separate logins. Data stays end-to-end encrypted. Apple says neither it nor its partners can read it.

Four cameras that store footage in iCloud

Four cameras come from LG. Each captures up to 2.5K resolution and recognizes people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles, and packages.

Video history lives in the user's iCloud+ plan with no separate camera subscription. Apple Intelligence adds automatic video summaries that describe what happened in a clip. Natural language search lets you type "show me the brown dog" and jump to that moment. Both features require an eligible iCloud+ subscription and compatible Apple devices. A home hub — HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV 4K — is needed for remote viewing.

A lock that opens when you walk up

The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock costs $349.95 and supports Ultra Wideband. In practice the door unlocks automatically when someone approaches with a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch configured with a home key. No tap required.

The lock also has an integrated PIN pad and a hidden backup key slot. It detects when the door has been opened or closed. It also flags tampering and alerts the owner if the door remains open while locked. It speaks Matter and Aliro. Core locking and unlocking work locally. Internet loss does not strand you outside.

Thermostats that watch the calendar and the rooms

LG and Schneider Electric each offer a smart thermostat at $199.95. Both can adjust temperature automatically based on whether users are home, getting ready for bed, or away without manual scheduling.

Both accept readings from room sensors — LG's at $39.95, Schneider's at $39.95 — so the system can balance heat across zones. The thermostats also respond to humidity data from those sensors. Apple says the automation runs locally through the home hub.

Professional installation arrives this fall

Starting this fall in the U.S., customers can pay an additional fee to have ADT install the accessories through Apple Retail. The announcement does not say how much the service costs or which accessories qualify. Hardware availability begins in December. Some accessories will not arrive until early 2027. Regional availability and color options are listed on a separate page linked from Apple's site.
