What Changes When the First One UI 9 Phone Arrives in the FE Line?

Samsung has announced a new phone called the Galaxy S26 FE. It is the first device in the S26 series to ship with One UI 9 out of the box. The announcement came on August 27, 2026.

Camera System Borrows From Foldables

The rear camera array uses three sensors. A 50 megapixel wide module with optical stabilization and an f/1.8 aperture sits alongside a 12 megapixel ultra-wide lens covering 123 degrees. An 8 megapixel telephoto adds 3x optical zoom and up to 30x digital zoom with its own stabilization. The front camera steps up to 12 megapixels with an 85 degree field of view.

My FanCam arrives from the latest foldable line. It locks onto a person in the frame and keeps them centered while the scene shifts. Super Steady with Horizontal Lock steadies video even when the phone tilts. Nightography handles low light the way the flagship series does. Photo Assist lets you rewrite parts of an image using natural language prompts. Edits can be stepped through, revised, or undone one at a time. Gemini Omni turns gallery photos and clips into finished videos. That feature needs a Google AI Pro subscription. The box includes a six month trial.

Battery and Display Numbers

A 4,900 milliampere hour battery fits inside a 7.4 millimeter thin frame. The rated minimum capacity is 4,755 milliampere hours. With a 45 watt adapter the phone reaches 69 percent charge in roughly 30 minutes. The adapter is sold separately. Wireless charging tops out at 15 watts. Wireless PowerShare works with a long list of Galaxy phones and wearables but may stop if the battery drops below 30 percent.

The screen measures 6.7 inches diagonally. It is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120 hertz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,900 nits. The resolution is FHD+. Dimensions come in at 161.6 by 76.9 by 7.4 millimeters. Weight is 193 grams.

Processor, Memory, and Connectivity

The Exynos 2500 chip is built on a 3 nanometer process. Every configuration ships with 8 gigabytes of RAM. Storage options are 128, 256, or 512 gigabytes. Availability of each tier depends on carrier and region. The phone runs Android 17 with One UI 9 on top.

Connectivity includes 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.4. An IP68 rating means the device survives 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes in lab conditions. Resistance is not permanent and can wear down over time. Colors are Blueberry, Graphite, and Pistachio. Color availability varies by market.

Software Support and Moving Data

Samsung promises seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch date. Timing may differ by model, network, or market. Smart Switch now transfers data wirelessly via a QR code. It moves passwords, passkeys, call history, accessibility settings, and eSIM profiles. Wired transfers from iOS require the receiving device to run Android 17 and One UI 9 or later. The sending iPhone needs iOS 26.6 or later. eSIM transfer support depends on the carrier.

A new Warranty and care settings hub inside One UI 9 manages Samsung Care+ enrollment and other device care options. Coverage details and deductibles vary by country. The six month Google AI Pro trial adds 5 terabytes of cloud storage valued at 19.99 US dollars per month. Charges apply after the trial unless canceled. The offer ends August 1, 2027.

Availability Starts in September

Galaxy S26 FE goes on sale starting September 4 in select markets. Pricing was not disclosed in the announcement. The device will be sold through Samsung.com, carrier channels, and retail partners. Specific launch countries were not listed.
